Project Overview

WildWise is a youth-focused brand designed to educate 13–16-year-olds about animal conservation through engaging digital content. The project addressed a key gap: while teens are motivated to make a difference, they lack accessible, engaging resources on the topic.

Key Deliverables:

  • Brand Identity: Name, logo, color palette, and typography.
  • Social Media Strategy: Ads, posters, and educational content.
  • Game Concept: A mobile game to teach conservation interactively.

Research & Problem Identification

Key Insight:

Recent studies show that 13–16-year-olds want to help with conservation but don't learn about it in school, leaving them unsure how to contribute.

Our Solution:

WildWise makes conservation fun and accessible by:

  • Educating through bite-sized social media content.
  • Engaging with interactive games.
  • Empowering teens to take small, actionable steps.

My Contributions

1. Research & Mood Board Development

  • Conducted surveys and competitor analysis to understand what resonates with teens.
  • Found that minimalist, mascot-driven ads performed best (e.g., WWF's Panda).
  • Created a mood board inspired by:
    • Nature documentaries (Our Planet).
    • Youth-focused apps (TikTok, Duolingo).
    • Successful conservation campaigns (WWF, Nat Geo).

2. Brand Identity Design

Logo & Name

  • WildWise was chosen for its memorable, educational tone.
  • Kept the logo simple (text-only) to ensure versatility across platforms.

Typography

  • Calistoga (Headings) – Organic, natural feel.
  • Source Sans Pro (Body Text) – Highly readable for content-heavy posts.

Color Palette

Selected 5 complementary colors representing different ecosystems:

  • Ocean Blue (#2877B7) – Water conservation.
  • Forest Green (#77732F) – Forests/wildlife.
  • Honey (#EDA945) – Endangered species (bees).
  • Burnt Orange (#D45837) – Urgency (climate crisis).
  • Peach (#FAC2AE) – Soft contrast for backgrounds.

Why These Colors?

  • Balanced visual appeal and symbolism.
  • Avoided overusing blues/greens to represent diverse habitats.

3. Social Media & Advertising Design

Ad/Poster Strategy

  • Minimal text – Focused on one key fact per post.
  • Eye-catching mascots – Used animal illustrations as the focal point.
  • Taglines – Short, impactful phrases (e.g., "Save the Bees, Save the Future").

Example Post:

🐝
Save the Bees

Visual: A cartoon bee with a gradient honeycomb background.

Text: "Did you know? 1 in 3 bites of food depends on bees. #WildWise"

Campaign Posters

4. Game Concept (Storyboarding)

  • Proposed a tap-to-rescue mobile game where players:
    • Complete challenges (e.g., replant trees, clean oceans).
    • Unlock real-world conservation facts.
  • Designed storyboard wireframes for gameplay flow.

Design Challenges & Solutions

Problem: Making conservation "cool" for teens.
Solution:
  • Used vibrant colors and playful mascots (avoiding a "textbook" feel).
  • Incorporated gamification (badges, shareable achievements).
Problem: Information overload in ads.
Solution:
  • One key stat per post + a clear CTA ("Learn more at WildWise.org").
---

Outcome & Future Vision

  • Final Feedback: Frog Design praised the consistent branding and youth-friendly approach.
  • Next Steps:
    • Develop the game prototype (Unity/Unreal Engine).
    • Expand social media campaigns with influencer collaborations.
